In the year 2004, gas was less than $2 a gallon. How did it get so high? What can we do about it? Some tips on how to obtain some more gas mileage are to, first, slow down. For every five miles per hour you go over 60, you can say you paid an extra 20 cents per gallon. When going up hills, decelerate. If you have a rack on the top of your car, take it off. If you have a truck, put a top on it or get a cover for the back of it. They weigh less than the cab and create less wind resistance. But why does it seem that the price of gas goes up every week? According to the global market, the price of gas is determined by how much Americans are willing to pay for it.
