Actions speak

Chris Hackett says he is not a politician, but he is trying very hard to become one. He says Washington is corrupt, but he wants to work there and move his family there. He says that he is against earmarks, but he as already spent most of the money the GOP had earmarked for the 10th District race and he matched that with his own money he earmarked for his campaign. He says he created jobs, but the truth is he places people where they want to be then charges them a hefty fee.

Hackett said he would ride his bike through all 13 counties in the 10th district. Actually there are parts of 14 counties in the district. He missed most of them because it rained. He said he would speak at the GOP convention, but the rain that fell in the Gulf of Mexico prevented him from speaking in Minnesota -- go figure.

Hackett says his opponent refuses to debate him when in fact they have both committed to a debate, Oct. 30 to be televised on WVIA. I'm sure his opponent will "reign" on that occasion.

Hackett's opponent has just returned from active duty in the Navy Reserve, where he has served nearly two decades. John McCain, Gov. Palin and Joe Biden all have family deployed in Iraq. I don't find Hackett's name on this list. Perhaps he will tell us if he ever served his country.

Hackett says he is against undocumented workers while he employed them in his own home.

An old adage that is apropos here -- What you do speaks so loud the world can't hear what you say.

Turbotville
