No charges filed?

The Daily Item recently printed a story on a lawsuit filed by six current and former Bucknell students against the university citing violations of the 4th Amendment Search and Seizure law when their fraternity was searched by law enforcement authorities for drugs without an appropriate warrant.

The Union and Montour counties’ sheriff’s departments and Bucknell Public Safety Department (sworn, certified police) found LSD, marijuana, bongs and other drug paraphernalia in the fraternity house. While Bucknell University’s spokesperson referenced violations of the Student Code of Conduct in this situation, the article indicated that no criminal charges were filed. It is interesting to ask why the students were not charged criminally when anyone else would have been.
