Don’t let negative comments from those who want Obamacare and President Obama to fail to con you. The Affordable Care Act is still a big improvement over what we had before. Besides hot air, what is the other side offering? That’s right, nothing!
Children and others with asthma and other pre-existing conditions who couldn’t get coverage before can no longer be rejected. College students and other young adults under age 26 can now be covered under their parents’ policy, even if they are married. Previously, when they turned 19, they had to get their own policy.
Seniors are now able to get free yearly exams, including cancer screening tests. Private insurance companies can no longer cancel coverage when policyholders are diagnosed with serious illnesses. When they need coverage, it can’t be denied.
Previously, low-income Americans who couldn’t afford to buy health insurance went to expensive emergency rooms for treatment and taxpayers picked up the tab. Today, they are eligible for financial assistance to buy coverage or are covered by Medicaid.
The Affordable Care Act, Obamacare, is not perfect, but it is still a good law.
