It seems as though The Daily Item routinely (and I might add, often) publishes letters that offer no informed opinions, but simple Bible reference regurgitation. What a waste of print space.
Ms. Reeder's letter is one such. Over the centuries, Bible references have been used to deny human rights to blacks, women, mixed race marrieds, those accused of witchcraft, scientists, gays and countless other groups. I don't direct my life from quotes from a 2,000-year-old work of fiction.
Use of Leviticus for this purpose to deny rights and respect for gays is particularly silly. I'm sure Ms. Reeder also follows its "rules" against eating lobster, clams and oysters, trimming one's beard or sideburns, wearing clothing of mixed fibers and the hybrid breeding of livestock.
By publishing such nonsense, your paper adds to the constant barrage of negative images that gay people must endure their whole lives.
For the record, I am an anti-theist, and I don't need preaching from a newspaper.
