League roll-off

Recently it was discussed in Kegler's Korner there would not be a league roll-off between Milton and Shikellamy to decide the conference championship. Both teams finished the season tied (22-6), yet because Milton won the match against Shikellamy (3-1) they have been crowned the champions without a roll-off that has been in the conference by-laws every year except for this season.

How is this justice for the Shikellamy bowlers that put in the time to get to this point? It is already an injustice that the local high school bowling teams only bowl each other once. Basketball teams play each team in their conference twice, both home and away. The same cannot be said for bowling.

This gives the home team for that respective year the "home-field advantage." There is no home-and-away series in bowling.

As a recent bowler for Shik I am obviously biased in this situation, but I specifically remember the jealousy I felt of the basketball players for how many games they got to play.

Bowling is a sport that is commonly overlooked at Shikellamy for some reason, even though it can be argued it is winningest program in the school's history. Now they are getting overlooked again when they were in line to capture yet another conference championship.

The Shik bowlers place just as much time into their season as any other student athlete in the conference. Now they are missing out on the opportunity to capture a championship and all of the memories that come along with that because of a technicality and change in paperwork by the powers that be.
