---- — It used to be that I looked forward to reading The Daily Item each day. It was a blend of local, national, and international coverage of events. The balance between liberal and conservative reporting made it a reasonable paper to read. In the last few months, this has changed.
The local reporting is on the front page and on the section inside. The local section used to be a separate section, but not any more. Rather it is now blended together with the front section. National and international news have been reduced to a fraction of the coverage. Conservative reporting and opinions dominate and there is no balance with a more liberal point of view.
Small towns need to have broader coverage to properly inform their communities. Fortunately, I have daily access to the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. As I read these papers, I have grown increasingly distressed that, for those reading only the Item, the critical national and international is not being reported as it once was. Can The Daily Item reconsider these changes and reverse them?
