As the Pennsylvania Legislature reconvenes this week, the GOP still has a goal of dismantling the State Store system. For reasons only Governor Tom Corbett and his minions understand, this crusade to bring more opportunity to their corporate cronies to make big profits while paying minuscule wages and shut between 4,,000 and 5,000 workers out of a job, is the most significant piece of legislation the Republicans seem to have on their mind.
In a state where, under Corbett, job creation has dropped from the top 10 nationally to the bottom 10, where the legislature makes double the money of the people whose jobs they wish to cut, this legislation breaks the bank of foolishness.
If you travel in any neighboring state as my wife and I do, you will see first-hand the deplorable condition of our highways and bridges and yet that isn't the primary focus of the governor and the minions. Oh, wait, maybe they will wait until there's a major collapse of a roadway or bridge.
I hope that members of the House and Senate are able to come to their senses and surprise me by voting for sensible legislation and break up the band. Corbett can stand on his own and the backups can lead the way. Hey, stranger things have happened.
