Obamacare paranoia

Very shortly, the Affordable Care Act will be implemented. There has been a lot of discussion about it, but here is something very interesting: When it is described to people and is called "Affordable Care Act" most of the reaction is positive. The problem arises when it is called "Obamacare," then the more negative reactions.

Now why would that be? It is not like we haven't had a concerted effort in certain places to discredit and literally destroy this president. You can see similarities to an extent in what was done when Bill Clinton was in office and the negative publicity and fear mongering when Hillary Clinton headed a group to develop and alternative health care plan to what was available at that time.

In the intervening years, the costs of health care have become exorbitant. Maybe people can't afford it, or have been dropped for pre-existing conditions and have going into huge debt, losing virtually everything because of their health care costs.

This is the health care plan the right wing and the Tea Party want us to maintain? They are literally advocating the right to have no health care as absurd as that is.

Of course there is a lot of pandering to fear with outrageous distortions and out and out lies. The fines for not having health care is one thought often brought up and it is never correctly portrayed by the people who want to stop it.

However, compare a fine -- even a couple hundred dollars -- to the costs incurred in treatment and hospital stays. It isn't even close.

This is not government health care, it is very similar to the plan enacted by Mitt Romney when he was governor of Massachusetts. It is a law and this law will make sure that more of the money you pay for health care goes directly to your care.

It has been shown to cut paperwork from where it is now and has shown that cost-wise it will be, in most cases, more economical than what is available now. The blatant misrepresentation going on and appealing to the misinformed and uninformed is despicable and shameless.
