---- — The community of Milton came out to support the Seventh Annual Tournament of Bands competition at Milton Area High School. Ten local bands joined the Milton Marching Black Panthers in competition and their quest for excellence. All who were in attendance were entertained through music, showmanship, marching precision, and of course, a spectacular fireworks display.
Participation in the marching band activity (and other forms of the arts) has the ability to teach lifelong skills that our students need as they become adults in a world that is changing more rapidly than ever!
The tournament was truly a showcase of 21st century skills.
The Milton Area School District's theme for the year is "We've Got a Story To Tell," and our annual Tournament of Bands is part of that story.
It's a story that tells of the support this school district and community shows to the arts! This year's event was one of the most successful since its return in 2007. For that, I would like to personally thank everyone involved and to all who attended.
For the past two years, our Tournament of Bands has concluded with a fireworks spectacular that has been made possible by the Milton Band Booster Association and Hepler Geothermal, Inc. We consider them to be a spectacular way to give back to our community for the support that we so generously receive! Both the Tournament of Bands and our fireworks display has quickly become something that our community takes great pride in.
After the success of this year's event, the Milton Band Boosters are establishing a Fireworks Fund and are looking to partner with local businesses to assure the continuation of this tradition within our community.
