Toomey and term limits

Recently, The Daily Item featured a letter from Jack Strausser, which touched upon congressional action on student loans and term limits.

He might be pleased to know Sen. Pat Toomey has already delivered on both.

Just last year, Sen. Toomey helped pass the Bipartisan Student Loan Certainty Act of 2013, a bill that locked in low interest rates for student loans and prevented a sharp increase in rates.

Furthermore, Sen. Toomey has long advocated that colleges and universities work with Congress to bring down the ever increasing cost of college, the true driver of burdensome student debt. Unfortunately for students, Senate Democrats seem much more interested in playing political games ahead of the mid-term elections than actually working with Republicans to solve the problem.

On term limits Sen. Toomey has been an unmistakable leader.

Not only did Sen. Toomey abide by his self-imposed pledge to serve only three terms in the House of Representative, last year he introduced legislation to make congressional term limits a constitutional requirement.

While many in Congress have been working hard to establish talking points, Sen. Toomey has been working hard towards making real reforms like these.
