New normal

Daily Item

---- — What is "The New Normal"?

TV entertainment buffs might cite the new avant garde sitcom aired by NBC on Tuesday nights.

Senior citizens may identify with the reality of the aging process: aches and pains; more frequent bathroom visits; diminished eyesight and hearing; prescription drug regimens; and the struggle to "keep moving".

Another "new normal" has evolved during the past four years -- economic distress. Downside results include: 8 percent unemployment; 23 million unemployed; gasoline prices doubled; 15 percent increase for groceries; 47 million food stamp enrollees; $1 trillion spent in 2011 for 83 means-tested welfare programs; $16 trillion national debt; less than 2 percent economic growth; and state-dictated healthcare.

Both political parties caused this mess. The winners of the November elections are thus responsible for "save-the-country" solutions.

Choices are: (1) continuation of authoritarian, bureaucratic and nanny state control; or (2) restoration of limited government; individual freedoms; strong national security; a vibrant economy; simplified tax code; and personal responsibility.

November 6th is critical to the future of our country. Ponder your ballot selections carefully.
