Selinsgrove School Board are you serious? Another tax hike? Salary increases of $6,000 for two years straight, 3.48 percent, 2.1 percent, and more for the business manager and the superintendent?
Have you not stuck your head out the school house door recently? Salaries should not be going up -- and forcing the taxpayers to pick up the tab. I work for the government -- am getting ready to retire -- and have had to forego a raise, and awards, for years.
Members of the school board would be hooting and hollering if government employees got their very well deserved increases.
However, we are sacrificing -- albeit involuntarily -- in this economy and, perhaps I am alone in my opinion, but I believe it to be a little presumptious of the school board to be increasing $99,000 salaries up to $105,000.
What's wrong with a $99,000 salary for a business manager? What's wrong with asking the employees of Selinsgrove School District to sacrifice a tad for the good the district?
You mean to tell me that the business manager is going to work harder for his increase, more than he is now? Doubtful, and it's not personal. I don't know the guy from Adam.
But holding salaries down is not an unreasonable request from school district residents. I'm doing it, as are many others in this economy, why can't you?
