Lack of regard, respect

Once again the three-ring circus that is Northumberland County politics has reared up and slapped the county's residents upside their heads. Lead by Vinny Clausi and his puppet Steve Bridy, and Rick Shoch as their foil, the supposed stewards of our county have again shown their lack of regard and respect for us.

I personally find it interesting that Clausi, whom I like to think of as the modern day Il Duce, never speaks to Shoch other than through email until the commissioner meetings when, as the picture from the Oct. 2 edition of The Daily Item shows, he is screaming. Screaming and bullying seem to be his favorite ways of ruling, er, I mean running the county.

Likewise he brags how he saves the taxpayers money. Of course there are several lawsuits regarding wrongful termination and the settlement of the Best lawsuit which will be passed onto we the taxpayers.

For me the final straw with this board was the salary reduction decision. I don't know what hours all the row officers work or don't work. I know that Mary Zimmerman, for example, has personally delivered wedding licenses to people on her time on a Saturday. I know that Mr. Kelley is on call at all times in case of a fatality even on holidays. I know if you offer Clausi (Mr. for me is a form of respect that, until he shows us, I will not show him) prices for materials for his construction company or his restaurant that were formulated in 1980 he would scream bloody murder.

Why does he expect these folks to take it? By the way, if Tony Phillips cares so much about this county as he asserts, he'd volunteer for those same cuts.

Until then he's just another cog in the Clausi cartel that provides lip service but no substance to we the voters and taxpayers.

Harry Prentiss, Sunbury
