Mr. Westlund's letter in The Daily Item (Oct. 14) greatly misses the mark in his comparison of Christianity as practiced in the United States with Islam as enforced in Muslim nations.
Christians do not stone girls and women to death when they engage in sexual intercourse outside of marriage, nor do American Christians seek to forbid construction of Islamic mosques by law; in much of the Islamic world, it is illegal to build a church, and Christians are martyred by the state because of their faith.
Just as slavery (once legal) was morally contemptible, so abortion is also wrong. A developing baby inside her mother's womb deserves the right to life; the abortion industry wants to profit by her execution. Mr. Westlund writes of a woman's "right to have an abortion," but does not address the right to life of the unborn person.
