The World War II Honor Roll in Mifflinburg was dedicated 10 years ago and Saturday we held our Veterans Day program with a wonderful turnout. I want to thank all the folks that were a part of the ceremony. Our guest speaker, Rep. Fred Keller, the Mifflinburg High School band, the Boy Scouts that lead the Pledge of Allegiance, the Regina Society -- children of the American Revolution, and the Mifflinburg firing squad.
A very special thing happened this year: the choir which has performed in the past was unable to make it and then to find a replacement in the 11th hour. I immediately reached out to local churches in hopes that some might have choirs and members that would want to help out. An immediate response came from the Nazarene Church with singers willing to be a part of the ceremony. Also, Dani Keister the choir director at the Methodist Church, stepped in as the person to organize it all and oversee practices.
When you think about this you have to be taken by the "community" spirit of not only volunteering their time while we honor our veterans, but the fact of two churches coming together like this and we can't say thank you enough.
Have to think if the 2,260 names on the World War II Honor Roll could talk, they would say thank you too.
