In recent years, The Daily Item has regularly published area public school administration salaries, especially school superintendents. Now that policy has apparently been extended to our local college professors.
It is very easy for your readers to think these people are paid too much, especially for readers, like myself who have never heard and will never make that kind of money.
So, I was very intrigued by Professor Wiley's letter in last Friday's The Daily Item.
After reading that letter late Saturday afternoon, my wife and I changed our Saturday evening plans and drove to Selinsgrove to see the free concert Professor Wiley had invited the public to attend.
What a great concert we heard by the Susquehanna University Orchestra. These young musicians sounded like a professional orchestra. The bassoon and piano soloists were brilliant.
Upon leaving Weber Chapel, the last thing on our minds was whether Director Wiley's salary was too high. Actually, I believe she should be in that "star professor" class she mentions in her letter.
