Keep the arts

We recently enjoyed a musical at the Danville High School and the Selinsgrove Adult Band for a benefit for the Cancer Society. It was wonderful to see so many older (and younger) musicians playing.

We had two children in different junior and senior high school bands and now we have had and have five grandchildren in various musical programs at Selinsgrove.

Why is it that the sports programs don't get cut, but the music and art programs are the first to be cut?

At least they can always play or sing music well into their golden years, but if you get hurt then your playing days are done.

Please, keep the arts programs going.

Gayle Emick and Ira W. Ritter, Selinsgrove
