---- — July 4, 2013 will mark the 30th running of the Mifflinburg 5K. The 3.1-mile loop, which begins at the Mifflinburg Community Park (North 5th and Thompson Streets), serves as the "kick-off" to Mifflinburg's numerous Fourth of July Festivities, including children's games, a quoit and horseshoe tournament, and the popular "Mifflinburg's Got Talent Event." The day is capped off with a spectacular fireworks show.

In celebration of the historic 30th running of the Mifflinburg 5K, the race committee has rolled out several new additions meant to excite our local running community. First, to honor our community members who have served in the Armed Forces, this year's race will feature a veteran as our honorary starter. Second, special race premiums will be provided to pre-registered runners, including a performance t-shirt and a reusable shopping tote. Third, special prizes, including vintage race premiums, free registrations, and other prizes will be available to runners with the oldest 5K t-shirt, runners who register or finish in times that honor this year's event, and for fulfilling other anniversary challenges.

Finally, we haven't forgotten our up and coming runners (those under the age of 10) who annually participate in our "Fun Run." Area youth will have their race started by Mifflinburg's own Kylie Kuhns of the Kelsey's Dream Foundation. In addition, all "Fun Run" participants will receive a participation award.

2012 was a record year for the Mifflinburg 5K and we are hoping to once again sponsor a family-friendly race, with excellent premiums for a reasonable price. If you're interested in running your first 5K, or perhaps your 30th, we encourage you to register early for the Mifflinburg 5K!
