I find it hard to believe that two of our Northumberland County commissioners think that cutting the pay of elected county officials should come about.
We have good people in these offices that could go elsewhere and make a lot more money, but their love of community and desire to serve keeps them in difficult and stressful jobs.
When we need the best and the brightest to provide leadership two of our supposed leaders want to pay them below the poverty level.
Mr. Bridy wants to eliminate the "career politician." What gives him the right to take away from the voters of this county, the right to choose who we want to serve in these offices?
The voters are who select our row office holders with their votes.
Does Mr. Bridy not believe in free and open elections?
Let us reward those that do a great job by electing and re-electing as we choose and not be dictated to by the commissioners.
