Cut lawmakers' pay

The Daily Item

— This letter is in response to the article in The Daily Item on Feb. 28, “Dispute kills $21 billion in vet aid.”

Who do these politicians think they are? God! I feel they should all be put in uniform (blaze orange) and put in front of the troops and marched into battle or in a combat unit of any kind. Maybe they would know what a vet went through.

These military personnel are all volunteers and they think they are doing the right thing by trying to keep the United States safe.

I was in the service when I was 17 and am proud of it. I’m one of the lucky ones that did not get hurt or maimed. I’m now 78 years young and I feel the U.S. does not owe me anything for my service.

But it bothers me when these thieves, crooks, liars, lazy bums think they are doing this great country of ours a favor by being a senator or government employee that cuts veterans’ benefits to save money. Cut their pay by two-thirds and they still are being paid too much for what they do, if they do anything.

I know this is the feeling of all vets and service people.
