Unethical and divisive

So I read your slogan in the past. I fail to see why you changed it and not your editorial position. Since the change you have featured such columnists as NOM’s Maggie Gallagher and Wesley Knapp, both of whom turned out to be unethical and divisive. Recently NOM stated a strategy of driving a wedge between gay and black voters to help get right-leaning candidates elected. Knapp was summarily dismissed from his position for ethical lapses.

You now seem to favor the Susquehanna Conservative “Club” with My Turn columns and frequent front page articles about their guest speakers.

Shortly after Mr. Knapp’s statements in his column about Brandon Bitner I wrote the following letter. It is edited for brevity:

“Mr. Knapp constantly uses his position to gain access to the press to advocate for the religious right and to make divisive comments such as, “As I have said many times, as long as tests are given in schools, students will be praying, and the U.S. Supreme Court and a dictator in the White House together will not be able to stop it.’ The letter also showed very poor judgment in dismissing the need for diversity being taught in his schools in the wake of the tragic death of a “diverse” student in his school district by suicide. Mr. Knapp’s remark was, “These people will be the same educators who started the diversity band wagon rolling two decades ago urging schools to celebrate diversity.” If Mr. Knapp can’t see his way clear to celebrate diversity, perhaps he should at the very least try to work toward making his school district safe for diverse students.”

It appears that I was prescient in my evaluation of Mr. Knapp. His attempt at demonstrating what a fine man he is by saying he is a Christian is nonsense. Being Christian is neither necessary nor sufficient to be considered an ethical individual.
