---- — Reporters in the national media who make their living prostituting the First Amendment always seem to take great pleasure in pointing their finger of guilt at the Second Amendment, and gun owners whenever there is a horrible tragedy involving firearms. Three horrendous highly publicized public shootings, by three mentally disturbed men, in a little over four months. Seems to me it's time for members of the national media to point their finger of guilt at themselves. Guns are tools; it takes inspiration to do something with those tools. When the press and broadcast media publish and announce the name of each shooting's murderer they are giving the next crazed mad man a warped idea that these sick acts will somehow bring him a fame that his sad unproductive life would otherwise never have achieved.
It's time for our First Amendment profiteering national media organizations to accept the guilt and blame that they so love to bestow upon gun owners and the Second Amendment. These last two public shootings were obviously inspired by Colorado's Batman movie shooter and the excessive media coverage he received.
I'm a conservative Democrat with 29 years in law enforcement who is no fan of the NRA's political agenda; but I want to stress that all of our rights are equally valuable, and all of them need to be exercised with caution and responsibility; especially our First Amendment rights as inspiration can be a very dangerous thing.
