Lax gun laws

I was moved by the anguish expressed in Saturday's editorial, "We cry for the children and their families," but I hoped to read the words "gun control." Instead the editorial says "A free society cannot keep guns out of the hands of people whose impulses turn deadly." That's a sour and cowardly definition of freedom, to say that a 20 year-old needs to be free to buy multiple powerful guns, but parents aren't free to safely send their children to schools, to theaters, to malls or to college. When will public voices like yours find the courage to say that our lax gun laws are lethal madness?

Ben Marsh,

Lewisburg
