Other problems

With the recent events in Connecticut, a lot of media and left thinkers are starting to call for stricter gun laws and regulation. I have to ask when, as a society, instead of blaming guns are we going to look for the core issues. When are we going to call into question broken homes and shoving pills down the throats of the youth of America? When we do have a home with both parents, they both have to work many hours just to make ends meets. The youth of America is being raised by teachers, television and the Internet and not by the parents.

We are filling our children with medications and where has it got us? Kids can't even play tackle football at recess anymore. We, as a society, have failed the youth of this country. We have had guns on these shores since the 1400s. We didn't start having mass shootings till the 1990s, that should give us a hint of what has happened in this country. Mexico has very strict gun laws and so did Germany in the 1930s and '40s. Do we want to follow their lead?

We have hundreds of thousands of gun owners in this country who are productive and law-abiding citizens. We will always have crazy people out there willing to kill whether we have guns or not. Freedom and liberty are neither free nor easy.
