Wrong on all counts

Josh Merwine’s letter to the editor “Marriage in Pennsylvania” is wrong on all counts.

“Liberal opinionated judge?” Judges are supposed to render legal opinions based on the law and the U.S. Constitution. This judge was nominated by George W. Bush and supported by Rick Santorum ... hardly liberal champions.

“God’s word” (code for the Bible) has nothing to do with the U.S. Constitution. Nowhere in the Constitution is the Bible mentioned.

I don’t see how legalizing loving, long-term relationships subjects youth to “poor moral values.” I really don’t care if Josh is offended or not by my relationship. I am offended by his lack of knowledge of the U.S. Constitution and the reason for the three branches of our government.

“Politically correct” is right-wing code with no meaning except to insult those he disagrees with.

Even our Roman Catholic governor threw in the towel after wasting $588,000 of state money in defense of an unconstitutional law.

The whole point is that law is not based on beliefs. Beliefs do not, per se, deserve respect, but people do.

David Ambrose,

Lewisburg
