Flags in disrepair

Recent headlines and popular stories have reflected that the city of Sunbury has been wasting money building parks and helping the area youth have a place to play constructively. Everyone has their own opinion and I respect that.

In my opinion a nearby area has been severely neglected. On a recent trip across the Veteran's Memorial Bridge I noticed that several of the flags are in severe disrepair.

Some are in shreds with pieces flying in different directions and others are absent with just an empty post standing along the side of the bridge.

This is a bridge that is dedicated to the memory of those who served this country and gave the ultimate sacrifice. I think that it is a tragic loss of something that I was once in awe of. I'm not completely sure who is responsible for the upkeep of this bridge, but they should be ashamed of the condition it is in. If we are going to have a "Veteran's Memorial Bridge" it should be kept in a condition worthy of those whom it honors.
