While it was good news to hear that the state has finally decided to do something about improving the transportation superstructure of our highways and bridges, I won’t believe that the long-delayed Central Susquehanna Valley Thruway is going to become a reality until I see construction actually happening. Let’s hope we don’t all end up paying extra taxes on gas and higher fees without gaining the bypass.
I would also like to remind everyone that back in 2009, our Congressional representative at the time, Chris Carney, did an awful lot of work to get the project moving after Governor Rendell shut it down, and that he was the one who was able to get the corridor miles added to the Appalachian Regional Commission highway system. Had this not been done, Sen. Gordner, Rep. Marino and Rep. Barletta probably wouldn’t have this new feather to put in their hats.
Let’s give credit where it’s due.
