Remove the stereotypes

I am currently a student at Midd-West High School. I am a senior this year and in all my years of attending this high school I have rarely seen anything positive written about Midd-West High School in your newspaper. All the negative articles in the newspaper are bringing our school name and also our community down. A lot of great things happen here at Midd-West; it just seems that they get overlooked.

As the Midd-West student body, we have noticed that your newspaper has been putting many articles in the newspaper that portray Midd-West in a negative way. As a school, we do many wonderful things here. We provide stellar theatrical performances for the community. In fact, this upcoming weekend, Midd-West is hosting the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association's region IV Chorus event. Also, every year we have winning sports teams that also support Breast Cancer Awareness and we do a blood drive that all of our students have the opportunity to participate in. With all the negative articles being put in your newspaper, our school is being stereotyped as a school to stay away from.

As part of the Midd-West student body, all we ask is for you to look into the positive things our school does for the community. We all would greatly appreciate finally seeing some positive articles about our school to help remove the stereotypes we have been labeled with.

Austin Bennett, Middleburg
