Wrong about the shutdown

For The Daily Item

---- — Unfortunately Mr. Ely gives us only half the story about the government shutdown. As Paul Harvey used to say, “Here is the rest of the story.”

The House voted 42 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act. To no one’s surprise, this tactic was unsuccessful. Then the House passed two continuing resolutions which contained provisions to attempt to destroy the ACA. The Senate refused to pass these bills. The Senate passed a clean continuing resolution, one with no stipulations, to fund the government at the sequester level.

But, guess what? The Majority Leader of the House refused to bring the Senate bill up for a vote. Gee, do you know what party the Majority Leader of the House belongs to? Maybe Mr. Ely doesn’t either. You don’t need him or anyone else to tell you who caused the shutdown.
