The letter on Friday by the Hanyaks really has me scratching my head. We must elect godly leaders, so vote your pocketbook. Really? Do they go together, or didn't Jesus say, "Sell everything you have, give the money to the poor and follow me."?
They talk about President Obama's weakness (his diplomatic efforts) inviting attacks overseas, ignoring the Bible's admonition to "as much as possible live peacably with all men". These attacks have occurred in every administration since President Jimmy Carter, including 12 in the W. Bush years when the American mantra was a bomb-crazy stronghand, "Bring it on!"!
They declare that President Obama has forsaken Israel. Really?
Did you see what Iran said would happen if Israel attacked them? They said they would respond by hitting American targets! Does that sound like Iran believes we have forsaken Israel? Such nonsense! Then we get to the part about the "Godless" Democrats. Let me first say that it is not a function of the U.S. government to legislate people into heaven. That is a personal decision and has been since "I AM" told the people through Joshua, "You choose whom you will serve." The Democrats were responding to the hypocrisy of Republicans using God's name for their political purposes. If you pass through the pearly gates with "God, I thank you that I am not like these other men" on your lips, instead of "God, be merciful to me, a sinner", I fear for you.
So, here it is again, another Republican letter bashing President Obama and calling him an America-hater, and yet not a word of endorsement for their own candidate. The Hanyaks warningly close their letter with "The choice is clear", yet not a single word about the other "choice". What gives with that anyway?
