'Do something'

In the United States of America, too many people are smoking marijuana. There are absolutely no positives for the drug, unless it is for medical use. It has gotten out of hand, and we need to do something about it. People do not understand how harmful the drug is, and children do very irresponsible things as a result of it.

Famous athletes have ruined their careers because of this. For example, Ricky Williams, a running back for the Miami Dolphins, destroyed his magnificent abilities.

People in the tiny, harmless town of Selinsgrove do not know what this drug is doing to adolescents -- and even adults. This is my first year of high school at Selinsgrove and I think it is a wonderful school, but there are a few things going on that I do not care for, one of them being adolescents who smoke marijuana.

We need to do something about this. First of all, more people need to recognize that many high school students smoke weed. Second, the police need to buckle down and start busting more young people and handing out penalties. Lastly, the children just need to understand that they need to stop. They are ruining their lives.

Marijuana use and abuse is out of control. Recently two states in America legalized marijuana for recreational use. This is pushing children to smoke more.

I do not understand why kids are doing it. Maybe they think it will make them be "cool." In my opinion, it makes them appear as "fools."

I hope more people out there read this and agree with me. Let's do something about people smoking marijuana. If Selinsgrove is typical of most high schools in this area and elsewhere, this is a major concern.
