Following up on the letter from three residents from southeastern Pennsylvania about the poor storage of records in the Northumberland County courthouse, I would like to add my two cents.
As a genealogical researcher, I have visited 48 courthouses in 12 states and I have never encountered anything close to the abysmal neglect of records in the courthouse in Sunbury.
I have never before commented on this in public because I have always known it will make no difference.
For as long as I can remember, Northumberland County politicians don’t care about anything but themselves and arguing with anybody who disagrees with them. It’s hard to believe that anything could be worse than the dysfunctional politicians in Washington but Northumberland County makes Washington look almost fairly good.
