Enough is enough

After reading about the pending controversies in the Line Mountain contract negotiations, I have several questions which hopefully someone can answer for me.

First, as a property owner and taxpayer, should I not be privileged to be made aware of all the requests made by the teachers union members as well as offers made by the school board members? So far, only the school board offers have been made available.

We continually hear that the teachers are there for the students, but how does it help the students if the teachers receive increased benefits from a teacher/school board contract?

What benefits did the students, taxpayers and school board members receive in the provisions given to the teachers in the contract extension?

To the taxpayers and voters in the Line Mountain School District, I challenge each of you to become aware of how the board members react and vote on the issues they consider at their board meetings so you can hold them accountable on Election Day.

To the board members, I encourage each of you to show some backbone and after making a reasonable offer to the teachers, tell them to take it or leave it and if they leave it, replace them with other teachers who will gladly accept these conditions. Do you not have the authority to hire and dismiss teachers?

I think I am speaking for most taxpayers in this school district, but if not, then I will stand alone.

Enough is enough.

Herndon
