SUNBURY — On April 12, the Sunbury YMCA participated in the National Healthy Kids Day. Bloomsburg University senior nursing students also participated in this event. The nursing students presented information and teaching on various topics such as safety, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and skin cancer.
This event provided a great learning opportunity for the children that participated. The children were able to ask questions and participate in learning activities. Senior nursing student Allison Daisey said, “Over all it was a success. The children got involved in our activities and they had a lot of fun.”
Along with the Bloomsburg nursing students, many other participants provided education on healthy lifestyles for children. Some of these participants included the Sunbury Police, Evangelical Community Hospital, Geisinger Health Clinics, Sunbury Community Hospital, Central Susquehanna Sight Services, North Western Human Services, Susquehanna Valley Safe Kids Chapter, Bucknell University, Foster Grandparents, Keystone Human Services, Statefarm Insurance, Al and Son Balloon Art, Parent to Parent, and American Fire Company.
