Weekend calendar for children and families: Nov. 16-18

The following calendar involves locally based events for this weekend that are geared towards children and their families


-- Lap-Sit Story Time/Lewisburg A special story time for babies up to one-year-old and their parents or caregivers held at 11 a.m. at The Public Library for Union County, 255 Reitz Blvd. More information, 523-1172.

-- STORY TIME/McEwensville Preschool story time begins at 11 a.m. at Montgomery House Warrior Run Area Public Library, 20 Church St. For preschoolers ages newborn to age 5. November’s theme is Being Thankful.

-- STORY HOUR/Milton Story hour with Emma the dog, for preschoolers, held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Milton Public Library, 541 Broadway. No fee. More information, 742-7111.

--TGIF/Milton The TGIF program at Milton YMCA held for youth in second through fifth grades from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Event features dodgeball, swimming, games, and more. Cost is $5 for members and $6 for nonmembers. Children not permitted to attend without a completed registration form, including contact phone number, parent/guardian signature, and a current photo. -- STORY TIME/Northumberland Preschool story time begins at 10:30 a.m. at Priestley Forsyth Memorial Library. Program is designed for children ages 3 to 5. Children listen to stories, create crafts, and have fun while learning about authors and illustrators, old and new. More information, 473-8201.

--CHRISTMAS PARADE/Williamsport The 63rd annual Billtown Christmas parade begins at 6 p.m. and steps off from the starting line at West Third Street and Elmira Street. Parade features floats, marching bands, clowns and costumed characters, dance teams and marching groups, The Hershey park characters make a return appearance in the holiday kick-off. Leading the flotilla will be the giant candy cane balloon. More information, 327-7510.


--SANTA CLAUS ARRIVES/Buckhorn Santa Claus is scheduled to arrive at 11 a.m. at Columbia Mall. Also special entertainment. Children can have their pictures taken with Santa from Nov. 17 through Dec. 24. For hours and prices, visit or call 387-4909.
