PHILADELPHIA — Elizabeth Kathleen Hawthorne became the bride of Francis Anthony Newton on June 28 during a ceremony at the Physick House in Philadelphia.

The bride is the daughter of Robert S. and Carole K. Hawthorne, of Jenkintown. The bridegroom is the son of the late Dr. Francis A. Newton and Linda B. Newton, all formerly of Selinsgrove.

The Rev. Angelo Juliani officiated at the ceremony in which the bride was given in marriage by her father. Dr. Tamara Getty, sister of the bride, of Jenkintown, was the matron of honor.

Glenn A. Newton, brother of the bridegroom, was the best man, and ushers were E. Andrew Southerling and Kyle N. Southerling, brothers of the bride.

The flower girls were Madeleine E. Getty, niece of the bride, and Natalie W. Newton, niece of the bridegroom. The ring bearers were Nicholas D. Getty and Justin R. Getty, nephews of the bride.

A reception was held at the Physick House in Philadelphia. The newlyweds honeymooned in Europe. They are residing in Philadelphia.

The bride is a graduate of Jenkintown High School and Bates College. She earned a master of arts degree in history from Temple University, and is a history teacher with the North Penn School District.

The bridegroom graduated from Selinsgrove Area High School and the University of Pittsburgh. He is a financial planner for an Internet retailer.
