CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Blaire L. Malkin and Robert M. Bastress III, of Charleston, announce their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dr. Dale and Jerry Marcus, of Wichita, Kan., and Mark Malkin, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is a graduate of Tufts University and Harvard Law School. From 2006-2007, she clerked for the Honorable Joseph R. Goodwin, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of West Virginia. She was an associate with the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery in Washington D.C., and is currently an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Violent Crimes Section for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Her fiancé is the son of Carolyn and Gary Savastano, of Selinsgrove, Pa., and Robert M. Bastress Jr. and Barbara Fleischauer, of Morgantown. He is a graduate of Wesleyan University and Tulane Law School. He was an Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division of the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office. From 2006-2008, he clerked for the Honorable John T. Copenhaver Jr., U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of West Virginia, and is currently an associate with the law firm of DiTrapano Barrett & DiPiero in Charleston.

A 2009 fall wedding is being planned.
