NEW YORK, N.Y. — The ceremony uniting Lauren Paige Starkey and Zacharias Johnson Effron in marriage was held at the Episcopal Church of St. Luke in the Fields. The Rev. Caroline Stacey officiated at the 4 p.m. service on May 19, 2007.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Starkey, of Lewisburg. The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Michael R. Richards, of Lookout Mountain, Ga., and Dr. and Mrs. Morris Z. Effron, of Cambridge, Md.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a Selia Yang Italian silk Mikado and organza gown, and carried a bouquet of lily of the valley. Serving as her matron of honor was Dr. Christine S. Hardy, of Fort Collins, Colo., and maid of honor was Kathryn J. Starkey, of Catawissa, both sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kate Landry, of Lookout Mountain, Ga., sister of the bridegroom; Katie Starkey, of Jenkintown, sister-in-law of the bride; Lauren Effron and Leslie Effron, of Cambridge, Md., sisters of the bridegroom; Nora Wessner, of New York City; and Elena Heiblin and Kiran Matsko, Esq., of Philadelphia. The bridesmaids wore chocolate brown silk chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of pink peonies.
The flower girl was Sara Jane Landry, of Lookout Mountain, Ga., niece of the bridegroom. She wore a cream silk satin and organza gown.
Guestbook attendant was Melanie Magnotta, of Ellington, Conn.
The flowers for the ceremony and reception were designed by Magnolia of Manhattan.
Serving as best man was Samuel Warren, of New York City, and the groomsmen were Erik Hardy, of Fort Collins, Colo., brother-in-law of the bride; Russ Starkey, of Jenkintown, brother of the bride; Joseph Ferguson, of Philadelphia; Wynn Radford, of Washington D.C.; David Green, of Austin, Texas; Garth Brown, of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; and Nicholas Boehm, of Charleston, S.C.
The bridegroom and groomsmen wore navy suits with cream silk ties.
Readers were Patti Wessner, of Shorewood, Minn., reading from 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, and Dr. Michael R. Richards, reading Sonnet 16 by William Shakespeare.
Music was provided by Greenwich House string ensemble, and David Shuler, director of music and organist of The Church of St. Luke in the Fields.
A reception was held at Lucille’s at B.B. King’s Blues Club, Times Square. The couple celebrated their rehearsal dinner at AOC L’aile ou la Cuisse, West Village, and the bridal bunch was given by Leslie Orendorf, of Fairfield, Conn., at Serafina’s, Dream Hotel.
Following a honeymoon to Saint Barths in the French West Indies, the couple are living in the West Village of Manhattan.
The bride received her bachelor of arts degree in English at James Madison University. She is an executive sales manager at the Grand Summit Hotel, Summit, N.J.
The bridegroom received a bachelor of science degree in integrated science and technology, with a concentration in engineering and a minor in finance and business law at the same university. He is an associate at Goldman, Sachs & Co., Manhattan.
