Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth McKinley

— BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Mónica Debia and Dr. Kenneth McKinley were united in marriage at 8:30 p.m. June 22, 2013, at Parroquia San Bernardo in Villa Crespo, Buenos Aires, Argentina. The ceremony was officiated by Father Oscar Fabré. Music for the ceremony was provided by violinist Cristina Debia, cousin of the bride, cellist Yanina Siccardi, and soprano Lilian McKinley, sister of the bridegroom. The wedding party walked in with “Trumpet Involuntary” by Jeremiah Clarke, and the bride walked in, escorted by her brother Néstor Debia Thompson, with Johann Pachebel’s “Cannon”. Ceremony readings were performed by Rose McKinley, sister of the bridegroom and Patricia Braica, cousin of the bride, while the Psalm was read by Sonia Debia, cousin of the bride.

The Wednesday prior to the religious ceremony, the soon-to-be married couple had a civil ceremony, after which the bridegroom’s parents hosted a asado dinner at “Estilo Criollo” in Palermo, Buenos Aires.

The bride is the daughter of the late Roberto Debia and Mónica Thompson, of Buenos Aires. She is the granddaughter of Isolina Azuaga, of Buenos Aires. The bridegroom is the son of Dr. David and Diane McKinley, of Danville, Pa. He is the grandson of Audrey Donnelly, of Wayne, N.J.

Given in marriage by her mother and brother, the bride entered, wearing a white, strapless, princess style gown, which featured beads and rhinestones on the chest and a hand-embroidered chapel train, and was complemented by a laced, single tiered, finger-tip veil, and white, satin elbow-gloves. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white and turquoise flowers.

Fernanda Borrini served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Silvia Ortiz, sister-in-law of the bride, Rose McKinley and Lilian McKinley, sisters of the bridegroom, and Abril Debia Thompson, niece of the bride, as the ring-bearer. The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore floor-length gowns in turquoise and lavender satin. Each carried a hand-tied bouquet of red, yellow and white flowers.

Dr. Daniel McKinley of Ardmore, Okla., brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groomsmen included Timothy McKinley, brother of the bridegroom, Ryan Donnelly, cousin of the bridegroom, and Bradford Diephuis. They all wore black suits, white shirts, and turquoise ties, handkerchiefs, and cufflinks. Their attire complemented the bridegroom, who sported subtle pin stripes on his black suit and opted to contrast with his groomsmen by wearing a black shirt under his turquoise tie.

As part of the wedding party, both groom and bride had two sponsors to serve as witnesses to the ceremony. The bride’s sponsors were her mother and brother, while the groom had his parents by his side.

After the religious ceremony, the newlyweds hosted a cocktail hour and seated dinner that served asado, a sweets table in the middle of the night, and pizza for breakfast, since the party lasted until 6 a.m. For their honeymoon, the couple stopped in Panama to see the canal in action at night and went on to Jamaica, where they enjoyed the beauty of the Blue Mountains then bathed in the relaxing, turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Moni and Kenny still reside in the Big Apple with their cat, Ella.
