Maj. and Mrs. Christopher Portele

DANVILLE — The Basilica of Saints Cyril and Methodius was the setting for the ceremony uniting Lisa Marie Kardohely and Maj. Christopher Michael Portele in marriage. The Rev. Ted Keating officiated the 2 p.m. May 5, 2012, nuptial mass.

Cocktail hour, followed by a formal sit down dinner, was held for 190 guests at The Lewisburg Hotel. A 10 piece Philadelphia horn band provided musical entertainment. On the eve of the wedding, the couple hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Victoria House in Lewisburg, followed by a private party for out of town guests.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Kardohely, of Shamokin Dam. The bridegroom is the son of retired Lt. Col. and Mrs. Michael Portele, of San Antonio, Texas.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless Justin Alexander gown. The silk dupioni ball gown featured hand-embroidered designs and beaded lace on the bodice. The sweetheart neckline was embellished with intricate crystal beading. The corset back gown leads into a pick up and draped full skirt with a semi cathedral train, and was complemented by a cathedral veil. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of crème roses, white peonies, calla lilies and three soft pink roses. The bouquet was intertwined with crystal rosary beads.

Linda Kardohely, of Quakertown, sister-in-law of the bride, served as maid of honor along with six bridesmaids and four flower girls. The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore floor-length gowns in iridescent Bordeaux taffeta. Each carried a hand-tied bouquet of soft pink roses and white hydrangeas accented with green hypericum berries.

Maj. Patrick Portele, of Simpsonville, S.C., brother of the bridegroom, served as best man along with six groomsmen, including Mark Kardohely, brother of the bride.

The bride is a graduate of Saint Cyril Academy, Danville, and The Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor of science in biology. She was employed for 14 years by Merck & Co., Inc. as a research biologist in the department of toxicology.

The bridegroom is a graduate of West Springfield High School in Springfield, Va., and Texas A&M with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering. He has a master of business administration and a masters of military operational art and science from Air Command and Staff College. He serves in the USAF as a MC/AC-130 pilot.

Parents of the bride hosted a catered brunch for family and friends on Sunday.

Following a honeymooning to Kauai, the couple is living in Tampa, Fla. where Chris is stationed at MacDill Air Force Base.
