BOYS TRACK
SELINSGROVE — Behind dual wins from Wes Brubaker, Matt Ruby, Vince Fadale and Justin Kline, Selinsgrove took a season-opening 95-55 victory over Williamsport in Susquehanna Valley Conference Division I action Tuesday.
Kline led the way for Selinsgrove by posting wins in the 110 high hurdles (16.3), 300 intermediate hurdles (43.3) and the triple jump (40-1).
Brubaker won the 3,200 and 3,200R, Ruby won the 1,600R and 3,200R, and Fadale won the 1,600 and 3,200R for the Seals.
Lewisburg 108.5, Hughesville 41.5
LEWISBURG — The Green Dragons won all but two events on the track and one event in the field to take the SVC-II win.
Danny Talty led Lewisburg on the track by winning the 100- and the 200-meter dashes.
Graham Huber and Joe Stahley led the Green Dragons in the field events. Huber won all three jumping events, while Stahley won the shot put and the discus.
Southern Columbia 85, Bloomsburg 65
CATAWISSA — Jeff Bates was a four-event winner and Nate Leighow was a three-event winner for the Tigers in the SVC-II meet.
Individually, Bates won the 400 (56.1) and the 800 (2:19.7), while he also ran legs on the 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams for Southern. Leighow won the 1,600, 3,200 and he was on the 3,200 relay team for the Tigers.
Selinsgrove 107, Williamsport 43
SELINSGROVE — Kirsten Krebs, Erika Girton and Morgan Fleetwood all claimed two individual wins apiece to lead the Seals to the SVC-I win.
Krebs won the 800 (2:36.9) and the 1,600 (5:56.8), Girton won the 100 hurdles (17.2) and the 300 hurdles (50.2), and Fleetwood won the 200 (28.5) and the 400 (1:04.3) for Selinsgrove.
Krebs and Fleetwood also ran legs on the victorious 1,600 relay team for the Seals.
Lewisburg 107, Bloomsburg 43
LEWISBURG — Led by dual individual wins from Jamie Eggleton, Kiah Hardcastle and Hannah Jones, the Green Dragons took the SVC-II victory.
Eggleton won the 100 (14.04) and the 200 (29.38), Hardcastle won the 800 (2:40.32) and the 1,600 (5:41.63), and Jones won both hurdles races (17.57 in the 100 and 50.06 seconds in the 300).
Bloomsburg 77, Southern Columbia 73
CATAWISSA — Cynthia Adams was a four-event winner, but it wasn’t enough as the Tigers fell in the SVC Division II matchup. Adams won the 800, 1,600, and ran a leg on the winning 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams for Southern.
<Tri-Valley 9, Shikellamy 2
SUNBURY — The Bulldogs jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the second inning and took the season-opening non-league win.
Shikellamy got two runs in the third on RBI singles from Katie Benner and Lauren Mull.
Shamokin 9, Lourdes Regional 0
COAL TOWNSHIP — The Indians needed only nine hits to score its nine runs en route to winning the Schuylkill League matchup.
Lindsey Ruiz went 3-for-4 and scored two runs, while Lisa Burns went 2-for-3 and doubled to lead Shamokin.
Loyalsock 13, Southern Col. 1 (5 inn,)
CATAWISSA — Rachelle Kuhns went 4-for-4, tripled and hit a grand slam home run in the second inning to lead the Lancers to the Mid-Penn Conference victory.
BASEBALL
Southern Columbia 17, St. John Neumann 7
CATAWISSA — The Tigers scored 12 runs in the second inning to cruise to the Mid-Penn Conference win.
Randy Witcoskie had three hits and a double, Trevor Behrent had three hits and two doubles and Colin Klebon added a home run to lead Southern.
