DANVILLE -- Cherokee won a pair of games last week to improve to 7-1 and stay in the hunt for the Danville Major Division Baseball title.

Cherokee used a nine-run third inning and followed it with a six-run fourth to topple Geisinger 15-10. Cherokee scored 15 more runs in a 15-0 victory over Southside thanks to an eight-run second.

In the win over Geisinger, Cherokee scored 15 runs on just six hits, sparked by Michael Patterson's triple. Patterson had two hits to lead the Cherokee offense. Michael Kopalcheck added an RBI single while Logan Maloney, Dalton Lupini and Jonathan Berkey also had hits.

Lupini picked up the win on the mound, striking out four.

Kurtis Mordan led Geisinger with three singles while Sean Cope had a triple and a single. Kodey Smeltzer added a pair of hits as well, including a double.

In the easy win over Southside, Dalton Lupini and Zack Shutter, making his first appearance on the mound, combined on a two-hitter. Lupini picked up the win, striking out four more.

Cherokee scored three times in the first inning and then broke things open with an eight-run second.

Sam Dressler had two extra-base hits, including a triple and double and drove in a run. Lupini had a two-run homer and drove in three while Garrett Krum added a double, single and 3 RBIs.

Koty Lupini also singled, doubled and drove in a pair while Shutter and Patterson also had hits.

Tyler Gregg and Kyle Brady had Southside's only hits.

Metso 7, CATV 6

After CATV tied the game in the top of the sixth, Eric Haney singled home the winning run in the bottom of the inning for Metso (3-4).

CATV (4-3) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first only to have Metso rally with two in the first, third and fifth innings.

Haney picked up the win on the mound for Metso, allowing five hits in five innings of work, striking out five. Ryan Conrad pitched four strong innings for CATV, fanning eight while allowing just three hits.

Haney had three hits, including a pair of doubles while driving in a pair of runs. David Burke and Jered Huntington each had two-run singles. Bryson Cromley scored three times.
