Selinsgrove 9-10s hold off Milton rally

LEWISBURG -- Selinsgrove scored two runs in each of its last two at-bats to hold off Milton 13-9 in the Little League District 13 9-10 Division Area II opener for both teams at Danny Green Field on Friday night.
Winning pitcher Aaron Zechman started and pitched 2 2/3 innings for Selinsgrove (1-0), which will play Juniata in the winner's bracket Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Zechman had five strikeouts and allowed just two hits.
Selinsgrove center fielder Kyle Mertz made a diving catch in fifth inning to help quash a Milton rally.
Milton (0-1) will face Mifflinburg on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in an elimination.
Area II 9-10 Division
Juniata 3, Mifflinburg 2
LEWISBURG -- Juniata scored all its runs in the third inning, and that was enough as Juniata held off Lewisburg in their 9-10 Division opener at Danny Green Field.
Mifflinburg (0-1) scored a run in the top of the sixth to close the deficit to 3-2, but Juniata held on for the win.
The runs for Juniata (1-0) came on an RBI by winning pitcher Mason Hambright and two runs batted in by Josh Parson.
For Mifflinburg, Andrew Cooney and George Cooper scored runs, while Kerry Tomasetti had an RBI.
Mifflinburg will play Milton on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., while Juniata will face Selinsgrove on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
Area I 10-11 Division
Danville 4, Berwick 3
ALMEDIA -- Danville won its tournament opener, advancing to play South Columbia in the winners' bracket final on Monday.
Danville and South Columbia will play at 5:30 Monday at Almedia. The loser of that game, will meet the winner of Wednesday's Bloomsburg-Berwick game next Friday.
