GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
DANVILLE -- Sophia Ziemian shattered Danville High School's course record as she led Lewisburg to a sweep in the Heartland Athletic Conference interdivisional quad-meet on Tuesday.
Lewisburg (12-0) beat Danville, 22-33; Shamokin, 15-50; and Southern Columbia, 15-50. Danville beat Shamokin, 15-50; and Southern, 15-48.
Ziemian ran the 3.1-mile course in 18 minutes and 29 seconds to smash the old record of 18:50. Teammates Kiah Hardcastle and Shannon Wright followed Ziemian across the finish line in 19:15 and 19:33, respectively, to lead the Green Dragons.
Leading Danville (11-2) were Allison Billas (4th, 20:24) and Ashley Daniels (5th, 20:41), while Kate Bassett, Rachel Magliane and Kelsey Williams finished 7-9 for the Ironmen.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Lewisburg, Shamokin, Southern Col. at Danville
DANVILLE -- The top four finishers in the race wore orange and purple as the Ironmen took the Heartland Athletic Conference interdivisional quad-meet.
Danville (12-1) beat Shamokin, 15-50; Lewisburg, 18-41; and Southern, 16-47.
Chris Brandt won in 17 minutes and five seconds, while Mike Davis was second in 17:06, Tylor Barnhart was third in 17:41 and Jeff Huss was fourth in 17:55.
Leading Lewisburg (11-1) on the day were Robbie Murcek and Jared Toll, who finished fifth and sixth in 18:07 and 18:15, respectively.

Mifflinburg 3, Danville 1
DANVILLE -- Julia Pieters scored off a Kollie Bilger assist with 3:19 left in the game to give the Wildcats a two-goal lead and the Heartland Athletic Conference Division I win.
Brad Catherman scored unassisted in the first half for Mifflinburg (10-2-2, 6-2-1 HAC-I), while Taylor Musser gave the Wildcats a 2-0 lead with an unassisted goal 9:35 into the second half.
