BU’s volleyball season ends with loss

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Bucknell’s women’s volleyball lost to American 3-0 in the Patriot League semfinals on Friday. American easily won all three sets, taking the first 25-8, the second 25-14 and the third 25-17.

Senior Liz Hazuka had a team-high seven kills and added four digs. Fellow senior Shannon Pitsch had 17 assists and seven more digs.

The Bison end the year at 13-18.

Bucknell men drop Eastern opener

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Two comebacks by Bucknell fell short as the Bison men’s water polo team lost in the first round of the Eastern Championship to St. Francis (N.Y.) 10-8 Friday afternoon.

Richie Hyden and Howie Kalter led the Bison with three goals apiece. Bucknell is now 4-13 against nationally ranked opponents this season. The 17 ranked foes is the same number the Bison faced in 2007.

Knicks clear cap space with deals

NEW YORK — The New York Knicks traded Zach Randolph and Jamal Crawford in separate deals Friday, parting with their two top scorers to free up coveted salary-cap space for the summer of 2010.

Crawford was sent to Golden State for forward Al Harrington. Hours later, Randolph was shipped to the Los Angeles Clippers along with reserve guard Mardy Collins for Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas.

Feds want grand jury transcripts

SAN FRANCISCO — Federal prosecutors are asking a judge to unseal thousands of pages of grand jury transcripts and other documents from the government’s BALCO steroids investigation.
