Area motorsports notebook: Kauffman honored at Port

THAT'S ONE, DAD: Colton Bachman, the 5-year-old son of pro stock driver Kyle Bachman, of Selinsgrove, won his first-ever go-kart race last Friday night in the Kid Karts division at the Selinsgrove Raceway Park. Finishing third in the race was Rayce Miller, son of fellow pro stock driver Troy Miller, of Tower City.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Williams Grove Speedway will present the Twin 20s for 410 sprints tonight. Each of the 20-lap features pays $2,500 to win with time trials setting the heat and feature lineups. The Twin 20s program was rained out last year. Only twice in 38 runnings of Twin 20s at Williams Grove has one driver swept the double features: Van May, 1983 and Fred Rahmer, 1995.

RAINY FRIDAYS: Last Friday's rainout at Big Diamond Speedway was the eighth of the season at the coal region oval. A regular three-division show tonight is highlighted by one-on-one match races for the 358 modifieds. The Prelude to the Coal Cracker takes place on Aug. 23, with a 30-lap, $4,000-to-win feature for the 358 modifieds.
