Andreychik carries All-Stars to OT win

Eagles' Long paces Norry girls all-stars

COAL TWP. -- Andrew Andreychik scored 12 of his team-high 15 points after halftime to lead the Surrounding Counties All-Stars to an overtime win in the 12th Annual Northumberland County Senior All-Star Game.

The boys' 79-78 win followed the Northumberland County girls team's 60-56 victory Sunday at Lourdes Regional H.S.

Andreychik, a Danville senior, hit a trio of 3-pointers in the game, two in the second half as Surrounding Counties kept pace with Northumberland to force overtime. Ross Litz, a Danville teammate, added eight points, while Ironmen David Vitunac and Kyle Gruss each added four.

Northumberland was paced by Brad Fegley of Southern Columbia and Shikellamy's Tyler Pratt, who scored 19 and 14 points, respectively.

Shamokin teammates Devon Craft and Kimi Newborn combined for 24 points for the Northumberland All-Stars.

On the girls side, Line Mountain's Kasey Long led the winning Northumberland squad with 11 points, including seven in the second half.

She was followed by Lourdes' Molly Loftus (nine points), and Mount Carmel teammates Ranotta Ahrensfield (nine) and Heather Bolick (eight). Mount Carmel and Line Mountain each had undefeated regular-season records this past year.

Shikellamy's Lauren Onessi added eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Mifflinburg's Jackie Harriman scored seven points for the Surrounding Counties All-Stars, a total matched by Danville teammates Rachael Herman and Montanah James. South Williamsport's Jamie Steer led all scorers with 20 points.

The games, which are sponsored by the Northumberland County Recreation Commission, helps support its Scholar Athlete Fund and its Recreation Grant Fund.
