LEWISBURG -- Selinsgrove manager Stu Zeiders knew his team had to get some hits in order to stay with Mifflinburg in their District 13 Area II Major Division game on Monday.

Despite having less than half of the hits its opponent had in the elimination bracket matchup, Selinsgrove stuck with Mifflinburg until the fifth.

Mifflinburg tallied four runs in the fifth behind home runs from Eric Zimmerman and Garrett Becker to take an 8-7 victory at Danny Green Field.

"I told the guys before the game, win or lose, I just wanted them to walk off the field with improvement and to leave with nothing left and I would be happy," said Zeiders. "I knew we had to hit to stay with Mifflinburg, and I was glad to see that (my players) battled the whole game, but they came up short.

"I have to give a tip of the cap to Mifflinburg," Zeiders added.

Zimmerman finished with two home runs and four RBIs total after he added a solo homer in the fourth inning. Josh Foster added a two-run homer in the fourth for Mifflinburg.

Blaise Zeiders led Selinsgrove going 3-for-3 with a double, a solo homer in the first inning and three RBIs total.

NORTHUMBERLAND -- A two-out, three-run home run by Drew Spotts tied the game for Snyder County in the sixth inning, but Warrior Run broke the tie an inning later to take the Area II elimination bracket matchup.

The big hit ruined the comeback for Snyder County. The team trailed by six after the fourth inning.

"We started off too slow, and we didn't have enough fuel left in the tank at the end," said Snyder County manager Joe Stahl.

Hunter Wolfely added three hits and Tucker Snook had two for Snyder County.

Orion Brogdon and David Gerhart both had three hits for Warrior Run, which faces the Mifflinburg-Lewisburg winner on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
