High school roundup: Selinsgrove ends season on high note

MIDDLEBURG -- With the regular season quickly coming to a close, teams that aren't playoff-bound are scrapping for that final win or two to build on.

Selinsgrove got such a win over cross-county rival Midd-West on Friday. Isaiah Rapp hit a 3-pointer with under 10 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Seals to a 51-49 season-ending Heartland-I victory.

Rapp finished with 15 points -- all 3-pointers -- to lead Selinsgrove (4-18).

"It was nice to end the season on a winning note," said Selinsgrove coach Mike Stebilla.

Ethan Fadale also scored 15 points, and Andrew Sickle added 10 in the win.

Ascher Marks tallied a game-high 21 points for Midd-West (3-18).

n East Juniata 82,

Carson Long 52

COCOLAMUS -- Nick Lorenz and Bailey Coder helped East Juniata put an emphatic stamp on its perfect regular season, combining for 52 points in the non-league victory.

Lorenz scored 10 of his game-high 27 points in the second quarter when the Tigers outscored Carson Long 27-6. David Brantley had nine of his 17 in the period.

Coder added 25 points for East Juniata (21-0), which is the top seed in the District 4 Class AA field.

n Shikellamy 56, Milton 46

MILTON -- Kyle Leitzel drilled three of Shikellamy's eight 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points in the teams' regular-season finale.

The Black Panthers, who made just 2 of 19 threes, got 14 points from Ethan Baker.

n Williams Valley 74,

Line Mountain 48

MANDATA -- Despite Kellan Masser and Dylan Barthalomew both scoring in double figures, the Eagles had a tough time with the Vikings in the Tri-Valley League matchup.

Masser led Line Mountain (2-20, 2-14 TVL) with 21 points, and Barthalomew added 14 points.

n New Covenant 53,

Sunbury Christian 45

MANSFIELD -- Nathan Tice had 23 points and Curtis Eby added 18 more to lead the Lions to the ACAA win.

Jed Stuck and Karch Carey scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Sunbury Christian (14-10, 10-4 ACAA). Carey also led the team with 10 rebounds and Stuck had six caroms for the Eagles.
